In early 2020, the world began to face unusual situations. Suddenly, people had to live with strict social isolation, affecting not only the labor market and school activity, but also close relationships between friends, neighbors and family members. A blunt reality which drastically affected our daily routine, far from our understanding at the time.
However, everything has its positive side. This forced enclosure led people to reinvent and change their habits. Culture became stagnant as a result of this isolation which caused new forms of communication to emerge thanks to social networks, online courses, and seminars. It was in this virtual environment that, when attending an art course, Coletivo 21 emerged, a group of artists who began to share their individual experiences.
The result of this union was surprising. An important aspect of this exhibition is expanding the possibilities of perception of the artistic universe, starting from a micro, individual point of view towards a macro, group view.
Their goal was to produce a collection highlighting the irreverence, the avant-garde, and the yearnings of its authors besides revealing, trough small texts and subliminal poetic details, come together to culminate in a record of the diversity of artistic production, forming a mosaic that contemplates visions and intimate themes.
As it is a multicultural space based on the pillars of Art, Humanities and Democracy, it is with immense satisfaction that Casa de Cultura Odisseia houses the works of Coletivo 21.
