ELISA WUO

Elisa Wuo, born in São Paulo, Brazil, graduated in Art Education and a Bachelor’s degree from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado, FAAP (São Paulo, Brazil). In 1996, she moved to Florida (USA), where she lives and works.

For 25 years, she worked as a mural artist in the area of ​​residential and commercial interior decoration in the USA and Brazil. She has always been interested in the use of industrial materials. Her artistic process is plural and her techniques have expanded over time.

Elisa has been exploring more intimate paintings on a smaller scale, on canvas and paper. The painting is done by superimposing layers of the various procedures that occurred during the act of painting. The nature of her work lies in the creative process itself and in the dialogue between the image and the reflection.

As an immigrant, for many years she had to overcome the challenges of adapting to her family, language and culture. Her work reflects these challenges and erasures to which she was subjected.

Elisa complements her education with mentorship, courses and lectures. She is a member of the Brazilian art collective Coletivo21.

She actively participates in exhibitions in the USA and Brazil.
